Mr. Vinay Dattani

Vinay Dattani did his primary schooling in Kampala, Uganda (his birthplace) then high school in Dehra Dun, India, college and graduation in B.E. (Mechanical Engineering) from VallabhVidyanagar, Gujarat in 1967.

During initial years to support his family he worked in various jobs, starting as a laborer in CP Rail, became a welde, drove a Taxi, then in 1975 he joined Alberta Wheat Pool as a draftsperson. In 1978 after being accepted by APEGGA and getting his P.Eng., designation he continued to work for the same company for 26 years in various positions, of Assisstant Engineer to finally Project Manager when due to merger of the company he retired at the age of 56 in 2002.

Vinay with his brother Jayprakash and their family also ran the family business Dattani Foods in late eighties to early nineties. He is currently retired. During his active career he also volunteered at many places including Cable 10, and picked up extra skills and became a videographer.

He has also served on many volunteer associations and as President of SILPA, Gujarati Mandal of Calgary, Secretary to INCA, Technical Director, Sounds of India etc., Currently he assists newcomers to settle in Calgary using new technology - the internet. Vinay and Prafula while in Calgary had two other children Roopa, and Bansi who are also settled in Calgary. He has 3 grandchildren.
